Description
Summary:LAT (Lowest Astronomical Tide) is a vertical datum recommended by IHO (International Hydrographic Organization). IHO has stated that LAT is obtained from tide prediction for 18.6 years with observational data for at least 12 months or by other methods that are proven to give reliable results. The IHO statement indicates that there is no standard method in determining LAT in particular in terms of length observational data.

This study goals are to determine the difference in LAT approach value to LAT value from 12 month observational data. LAT approached values are determined according to observational data obtained under one year. Tidal observation data used in this study are tidal data from Batam, Tarakan, and Ambon. LAT is determined by harmonic analysis to extract tidal component, then it will be predicted for 18.6 years and looked for the value at its lowest water level.

In this study calculate the difference between the LAT approach value obtained from the variation in the length of observational data with LAT from 12 months observational data. Deviations are obtained at 0.5 cm to 11.4 cm in Batam, 28.9 cm to 79.8 cm in Tarakan, and 4.2 cm to 53.0 cm in Ambon. Coastline value is shifting due to the difference of the biggest LAT value which is 45.7 m and the smallest is 0.002 m.
