Summary: | Sea transportation plays an important role in goods distribution in Indonesia, particularly on the island of the eastern part of Indonesia. To maintain this role, port with sufficient facilities are needed. One of the port in this area that is economically potential to be developed is the Parepare port. The objective of the research is to study the 2001 – 2020 development plan of Parepare port. This plan was made on predicted amount of loading-unloading and the kinds of commodities of goods from and to the hinterland area of this port. The hinterland area of Parepare port covers 13 regencies/cities in South Sulawesi province with main commodities loaded such as rice, vegetables, fruits, eggs, clove, cacao, cashew nut, coffee and some others, while main commodities unloaded include fertilizers, asphalt, wood and some others. With the use of aggregate approach and disaggregate approach in the prediction, several models were obtained with significant F test and t test, with the condition index value < 15, with the smallest MSE and average value of R2 = 0.822 and r = 0.907. Based on the result of the prediction using the aggregate approach, the development of Parepare port in the period of 2001 – 2005 is the addition of berth length and mobile crane, while for the period of 2006 – 2010 and that of 2011 – 2020 will be the addition of berth length, container stacking area and others loading-unloading facilities such as mobile cranes, trailers, tractors and forklift. On the other hand, based on the result of the prediction using disaggregate approach, the development of the port at the pessimistic scenario will be the addition of loading-unloading facility only , which is mobile crane, while at the moderate and optimistic scenario, the development of port includes the addition of berth length, container stacking area and others loadingunloading facilities such as mobile cranes, trailers, tractors and forklift |
