Description
Summary:One of the most abundant secondary metabolites found in nature is from the class of terpenoid. Bioactivities of terpenoid class substances have been reported, such as antibacterial, antioxidant, anticancer, etc. Terpenoids have been reported to be produced by Rosaceae family plants, such as garden strawberry Fragaria x ananassa. In this study, a terpenoid from the leaves of garden strawberry has been isolated. Extraction was done using mixture of acetone and water. Purification was done using gravity column chromatography with silica gel as stationery phase and radial chromatography with silica plate as stationery phase. Characterization of the isolate was carried out using infra red spectroscopy, ultra violet spectroscopy, and NMR spectroscopy. A terpenoid from the group of humulane has been isolated...
