Summary: | Run-up and inundation distance caused by tides, wind, and storm in Semarang Coast has been simulated using the two-dimensional hydrodynamics model MIKE 21 with Flood and Drying facilities (FAD). This simulation used bathymetry data from GEBCO and Hydro-Oceanographic Office TNI-AL map and topography data in the form of Digital Elevation Model (DEM) from Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM). Tidal elevation obtained from Global Tidal Model ORI.96 and wind and air pressure data from National Centers For Environmental Prediction (NCEP). The model was simulated for 24 days during June 6 – 29 2009, which covered the Linfa Storm period during June 12 – 22 2009. <br />

Based on the simulation results with three generating forces scenarios (tide, tide and wind, and tide, wind, and storm), the farthest inundation existed in West Semarang, including Ahmad Yani Airport. The first scenario (generating force: tide) resulted 0.40 m of run-up and 2.73 km of inundation distance. The second scenario (generating forces: tide and wind) resulted 0.46 m of run-up and 3.14 km of inundation distance. The third scenario (generating forces: tide, wind, and storm) resulted 0.4625 m of run-up and 3.17 km of inundation distance. Wind effect increased the inundation up to 0.53 km of inundation distance and 0.17 m of run-up. While Linfa Storm increased the inundation up to 90 m of inundation distance and 0.63 cm of run-up. The run-up height and inundation distance suggest that the existence of Linfa Storm did not have significant contribution on the flood that happening in Semarang. |
