One of its indications is the collision of bhisama (a Balinese term referring to a kind of informal regulation regarding to Hindu’s related issues which is published by Hindu Dharma Council) concerning rules surrounding the temple. The regulation prohibits any parties to build anything other than building that related to the temple’s spiritual need. There should no villas, hotels,

restaurants, etc in 5 kilometer radius. Case study that used is settlement throughout the Besakih and Batur temple, as two biggest temples in Bali. This

research aims to identify tourism influence and how bhisama as controller role change the dwelling unit in research area. Strategy in data collecting that is used is literature study, discussion with government (Board of development regional planning, the office of religion, etc), tourism board (PHRI and Asita) and the

society (Hindu Dharma Council, local society around the temple and academician) and observation to object. While analysis that used is qualitative and quantitative.

Quantitative used for the election of research sample. Observation carried out to 15 unit of sample house ((9 in Besakih village and 6 of them in Batur village). Its

determined that sacred radius divided three, it is from temple gate (penyengker)- 1km, 1km-3km, and 3km-5km. Afterwards determined areas closest to the temple

that influenced most by tourism. This is noticeable with many tourism facilities near it and good infrastructure to meet it. The research obtained conclusion that

form, function, and meaning dwelling unit transformation is effected because influence of tourism, especially Besakih village compared to what happened in

Batur. This alteration generally is the usage of manufacturing construction material (mass) leaving local construction material, friction of family temple

position as a effect of new function (although this friction still acceptable), addition of kiosk/ booth and applying of ornamentation which is unheard-of

before. Other than that, it is found that traditional architecture form, function and meaning application on both research objects divided to three, that is original, inter-mediate and delusion traditional architecture. But the control role of bhisama

also still strength, such as not using similar materials with the temple in their dwelling unit, and not build in higher shares of the temple in radius which is

addressed by bhisama. text
