Summary: | Performing the installation of electrical submarine cable in water teritorials is not as simple as do it on land areas. Sound Navigation and Ranging (SONAR) system technology is needed to do acquisition of the data of bottom of water or sea surface and do processing to make the model of bottom of water or sea surface.
Side-scan SONAR (SSS) is one of the SONAR systems, which specifically designed to be used to record the surface of the seabed. This system produces dataset as images with greyness values that will be interpreted to identify objects and coverage of the seabed.
In this Study, the acquisition of SSS is carried out in Bintuni gulf, West Papua. Spatial analysis is performed on interpreted SSS image along with other supportive information, which are devided them in to several criterias and then give the weighting values according to safety and efficiency parameter based on American national standard (ANSI). After each of criteria is given it’s weighting value and formulized to each other, then new layer of intersection is produced along with values of the final scores on every part of the image. This layer holds the key to determine the safest and efficient route for installation of electrical submarine cable. The process of vectorization and rasteritation affect the route selection, therefore it needs smoothing process. The route as the outcome of this study is expected to become the model which can be used to guide the navigation and installation of electrical submarine cable. |
