Description
Summary:Fractured basement could be productived and abundant reservoirs if the basement is faulted and fractured. It is necessary to understand the basement fractured reservoir to improve effectiveness and success ratio for field exploration and development.

Objectives of this research are to identify character of fractures, to understand geology history in the field area and its relation to fracture formation. Methods used in this study are image log interpretation, subsurface mapping, and reconstruction.

Tectonostratigraphy units in study area are Pre-Rift Sequence (Basement), Syn-Rift Sequence, and Post-Rift Sequence. Basement lithologies are plutonic igneous rocks, volcanic igneous rocks, metasedimen, and carbonate rocks. Basement age is Cretaceous. Faults and conductive fractures orientation are relatively N-S. Fracture development was controlled by pre-existing fractures, Early Eocene-Late Oligocene extension, and Plio-Pleistocene compression. Fracture density is related to karstification prosess on carbonate rocks, wells location in flexural margin, and in-situ stress. In situ stress develops open fracture in N-S orientation. Geological history of study area is development of rifting in Early Eocene-Late Oligocene and deposition of Jatibarang Formation and Cibulakan Bawah Formation. Rifting was ended in Early Miocene, and then the deposition of Post-Rift Sequence was begun, which are Cibulakan tengah Formation, Cibulakan Atas Formation, Parigi Formation and Cisubuh Formation. In Plio-Pleistocene, the faults reactivated and become reverse faults. The study area becomes uplifted and eroded.
