THE APPLICATION OF THIN PLATE TO DETERMINE THE AXIAL AND LATERAL STRAIN BY USING A STRAIN GAUGE ON THE UNIAXIAL COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH TEST

Summary: | The determination of strain in a sample test by using a strain gauge has a better accuracy than using a dial gauge. However, the use of strain gauge are more expensive because it can only be used once. Using a thin plate that has been attached to strain gauge is the way so that the strain gauge can be used multiple times. Before the thin plate is used to determine the strain that occurred in the test samples, both for the axial and lateral strain, the measuring thin plate must first be calibrated. <br />

The relationship between the strain measured by the strain gauge againts the strain measured by the dial gauge was determined by observation in the axial and lateral axes. Strain that resulted from the observation are then calibrated. |
