On the other hand Indonesia is a country that rich in potential resources of perlite and should be ensure avalaibility of local materials comodities and can be utilized in an optimal usage. <br /> <br /> <br /> Perlite from Pasirwangi lies in units volchanism Stratigraphy of Mt.Guntur, Pangkalan and Mt.Kendang (Qgpk) are included in Old Quaternary Volcanics Rocks Units. Regional geological sampling locations showed that age of perlite mineralization and magmatisme are very close. Mineralization formed in high temperatur magma that experienced rapid freezing forming lava dome forming from viscous lava that appear in the vertical direction above the opening hole (vent). Lava flow, stretch and then spread in the lateral direction resulting in a nearly vertical emplacement of perlite. <br /> <br /> <br /> Analysis of physical properties testing of raw perlite shows that the nature of the Perlite G. Kiamis, Garut has a density of 1,86 gr/ml, natural water content between 0 to 3,09%, porosity of 4,69% and water absorption of 2,64%. Perlite minerals derived from Pasirwangi has expanded due to the nature of the heating became Expanded Perlite. The properties of expanding perlite at a certain temperatur is influenced by factors: duration of heating and initial size of sample. Decreasing density of perlite when heated resulting expanded perlite volume up to 4 times initial volume accompanied by an increase in value of porosity and water absorption. Microscopic analysis showed the existence of expanded perlite micropore size of 300-1500 μm. text |
