Description
Summary:In determining the rainfall estimation using data satellite MTSAT channel IR1, a method called CST (Convective Stratiform Technique) is mostly used and the result is quite good. The development of the CST method, there are some difference for determining the value of rain rate, including rain rate equation by Adler-Negri (1988), Islam (2002) and Vicente (1998). The impact of the difference equation of rain rate that used is many rainfall estimation results too. The results from calculation of rain rate compared with daily observations of rainfall AWS data which are mounted around the Soroako. Rainfall estimation using equation rain rate Vicente (1998) gave a fairly good correlation of results which is around 0.51. So the equation of rain rate from Vicente (1998) can be used for rainfall in Soroako, South Sulawesi pretty well. The Data of the C-Band Doppler Radar in Soroako is used to identify the existece of convective clouds when we are suspect a convective cloud through AWS observation data and satellite MTSAT data. Convective clouds are indicated by the presence of a radar reflectivity value greater than 35 dBZ, identified the presence of clouds cumulunimbus (Cb) that potentially cause rain cumuliform type.
