This thesis endeavors on figuring out the description of the shape of Indonesia’s defence diplomacy on the context of formulation of the defence cooperation between Indonesia and the People’s Republic of China. Defence diplomacy itself one of the instrument of foreign policy and national security policy. Agreement in defence cooperation agreed by Indonesia and China is a result of the conduct of defence diplomacy by diplomatic actor from both countries. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> By utilizing interdisciplinary approach through study of International Relations and defence management, this thesis elaborates the topic of defence diplomacy using several conceptual frameworks such as national security policy framework, and foreign policy framework. Several key concepts are also used in this thesis such as foreign policy, international politics, national interest, Security Sector Governance, national security policy etc. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Using case study methods with qualitative data, analysis was conducted through contextualizing strategy and triangulation many kind of data, both primary and secondary to gain analysis result that accurate. Data presented in this theses including the foreign policy of Indonesia, the rise of China in the context of security in Asia-Pacific, defence diplomacy and the establishment of cooperation in the field of defence between Indonesia and China. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Analysis yields result that shows the shape of Indonesia’s defence diplomacy, which can be observed through several aspects such as the goal, actors involved, procedures, issues being raised and activities conducted. Indonesia’s defence diplomacy’s goals are to project power on the framework of international cooperation, building national defence posture, building confidence and participate in the effort to create world peace. While actors involved including institutions of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Defence and the Armed Forces, with raising several issues such as education, training, technology transfer and building defence industry. <br />
