Description
Summary:The study area is in Tasikmalaya, West Java, which is an area with volcanic environment that is quite interesting and complicated from geology point of view. Geographically, the study area is located at 170000 m - 175000 m dan 9148000 m - 9152500 m. Knowing the order of geological study areas include the deployment of lithology, structural geology, and geomorphology in order to know the geological history of the area is a main goal of this study.

Endogenous and exogenous processes occurred in the study area include deformation, erosion, and weathering produces morphological formations covering the hills and valleys. Among those formations of morphology, the study area could be divided into three geomorphological units, the unit of folded mountain, fault valley, and flood plains unit, which is based on the formation and geological processes that occurred in the area.

The presence of pyroclastic rocks, lava, intrusive, and sedimentary rocks in the study area produced four lithostratigraphy consists of tuff unit which was deposited in a marine environment at Oligo-Miocene, dacitic unit which was intruded at Early Miocene-Middle Miocene, sandstone unit whch was deposited in middle neritic at Late Miocene-Early Pliocene, and alluvial unit which is still experiencing deposition until now. The first deformation occurred in the Early Miocene-Middle Miocene resulting in a gap to break through the dacitic intrusion which was intruded tuff unit that makes sandstone unit is deposited unconformly on it in the Late Miocene-Early Pliocene. In Plio-Pleistocene, deformation event make uplifted regionally. Strike slip faults and folding were formed during that time. Weathering and erosion processes that took place until now so as to form morphology as now is the geological history of this study area that can be summarized.
