Industry growth and abundant mining resources within an archipelagic landscape in Indonesia making the logistics industry to be in high demand especially among mining or energy related companies as the country infrastructure itself was not supported enough. PT.ABC Logistics which is one of subsidiary of PT.MBA Investama is the company that specialized in serving integrated logistic needs in this sector. The company was aware that they can`t only depend to their parent company in their growing phase as the sector itself has high uncertainties nowaday which gave a huge impact to the 2012 strategic fail. The question arised according to the main cause of their profitability declined and the possibility to reduce the dependency. Therefore companies need to formulate and implement apropriate strategies to gain a better competitive advantage in order to be more independence and sustainable in the industry. <br />

The strategy can be formulated firstly by analyzing both internal and external factor with several methods including PEST Analysis, Porter’s 5 Forces Analysis, and Competitor Analysis for external factor and Resources based, Capabilities, Core Competencies and Value Chain analysis for internal factor in identifying opportunities and threats at the industry as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the company which will be use later for creating SWOT Analysis. <br />

This research focuses on determine the company's strategy and what effects that it will bring. Internal and external analysis results were used to determine where the company's position in the <br />

<br />
industry by performing calculations EFAS and IFAS. Based on Directional Matrix, the company is in <br />
<br />
<br />
the diversification position at the corporate strategy which lead to chose between both concentric or conglomerate diversification. The business strategy for company was differentiation, supported by ten alternative strategies for supporting its overall strategy which derived from the TOWS Matrix. <br />

The profitability issue was mainly contributed by the high dependency to the parent company which is possible to be lowered by several strategy. The selected strategy which consists of improvement in marketing program, economic scope and business process will be implemented by using the Balanced Scorecard and Key Performance Indicator that can be applied by PT.ABC Logistics in the near future, which the company expected to have better profitability, improve and develop internal business processes and have an attitude at their learning and growth to improve performance and most importantly they can be more depend to themself rather than its parent group <br />
