Description
Summary:Floods often occurs in Indonesia , especially in Jakarta . this is because of located in the lowlands and a downstream area of the 13 rivers, there are factors that serve as the cause of flooding in Jakarta, especially when the rivers are overflowed due to heavy rainfall .

One of the efforts that have been made to control the overflow built floodgate area at some rivers , such as Katulampa floodgate in Ciliwung river and water level (TMA) monitoring which aims to anticipate the occurrence of floods or referred to as an early warning in the Jakarta area . But they are not enough to reduce the impact of flood events in Jakarta . Another tools are required to support the flood early warning , for example, Depth Area Duration ( DAD ) method. DAD method is an analysis tools which represented by the curves. One of its functions to analyze the heavy rainfall in an area that often cause adverse effects , such as flooding. Accordingly, this study aims to find and analyze the relationship between TMA Katulampa value as the point of flood monitoring and the DAD curve of heavy rainfall in Jakarta . The results obtained indicate that the flood events that occurred in Jakarta is not only dependent on the water level at the floodgate but also the caused by heavy rainfall, such as the flooding that occurred in 2007 and 2008 . The relationship between rainfall in Jakarta and Katulampa water level is appear , especially during flood events in 2007 were classified as incident ' severe flood ' . It can be concluded that the characteristics of rainfall caused flooding in Jakarta was rainfall has increased gradually over a certain duration ( flood of 2007 ) and also increased rainfall preformance drastically in the short time interval ( flood of 2008 )
