Ion imprinted polymers (IIPs) is a very promising material for <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> application in preconcentration techniques because it potentially has a good selectivity and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> specificity. The presence of memory effect between metal ions with a specific ligand is the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> cause of the IIPs has good selectivity. The purpose of this study is to synthesize metal ion <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> imprinted polymer for Cd (II) (Cd-IPs) through the polymerization reaction of salicylic acid <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> and formaldehyde in the presence of metal complexes of Cd (II)-4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> To achieve this objectives, the method will be carried out in 3 steps. They are namely the <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> formation of binary metal complexes with ligands, copolymerization binary complex with <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> salicylic acid and formaldehyde, and characterization of Cd-IPs. Characterization of NIPs, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> IIPs, and Cd-IPs using FTIR indicates that the polymerization in NIPs and IIPs have been <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> formed as shown by the presence of CH2 bridge vibration wich not found in salicylic acid <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> spectrum as monomer. Shift of vibration band of C=O and N=N on Cd-IPs and IIPs <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> suggests there has been a release of Cd ions by the addition of EDTA. Cd-IPs has a good <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> high selectivity with presence the ion interference such as Pb(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II). <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Characterization of Cd-IPs retention using the batch method at pH 5 with contact time of 10 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> minutes shows that the adsorption capacity is 12,38 mg/g Cd-IPs. text |
