Its capability to estimate physical properties distribution of material composition of the earth, make geophysical method become very popular in fields of hydrocarbon exploration, mining, and geotechnic. Generally, geophysical methods is done for estimating earth structure in 1D and 2D. To be able to predict the pattern of data distribution between measurement points or between sections, it is necessary to apply geostatistics. Currently, utilization of geostatistics in geophysical methods is common to be done. <br />

A survey of geotechnic had been conducted at Paiton, Probolinggo, East of Java. This survey consist of resistivity measurement and boring. These two activities give an output from each, in a form of true resistivity and SPT value dataset. Standard Penetration Test (SPT) value acquired from boring log, can be used as an indicator to determine medium type. It is possible because SPT value reflecting level of penetration of the drill, that will change time to time depend on what medium penetrated at each time. Implicitly, SPT value reflecting hardness level of each medium. On the other hand the true resistivity value reflects electrical behaviour of a medium. These two datasets, give an output from each that reflects different kind of values. But geostatistically, dataset of certain variable that accompanied with spatial coordinate, can be analysed. SPT value and resistivity dataset fulfill that requirement, even though they are different kind of values. |
