Description
Summary:Banda sea region or well-known as Banda Block, which is located in eastern Indonesia. Banda Block has a complex geology phenomenon because in this region three giant tectonic plate collide with each other there are Eurasian Plate, Pasific Plate, and Indian-Australian Plate. Banda Sea’s seafloor is a part of Eurasian Plate

which is squeezed by Pasific Plate in the north and by Indian-Australian Plate in the south. As plate collision zone, this region has many faults, ridges, ocean trenches and also micro-plate, which is Halmahera micro-plate that is the seafloor of Maluku. The aim of deformation analysis is to know the movement direction of tectonic plate in this Banda Block region, which can be used for earthquake disaster mitigation in

the future. Good quality GPS measurement data and the strategy of processing the GPS data are absolutely needed to calculate the movement and direction of tectonic plates. As, nowdays, the annual plates’ movement only reached up to millimetres.

The processed Continuous GPS observation datas show there are displacements at Continuous GPS observation points in Banda Block that range between 6.5 mm/year

and 64.4 mm/year and also there are some points which have different direction with other literature. The results are still needed the next deformation analysis because there is still one continuous GPS observation point which isn’t valid.
