A coastal state is possible to make a claim on the continental shelf in excess of 200 nautical miles (M) or commonly called the Extended Continental Shelf (ECS) as provided by article 76 paragraph 4 of UNCLOS in 1982. The main objective of this research is to determine the extension of the continental shelf areas beyond 200 nautical miles by using a formula approach Hedberg Line. The method used in this study refers to Article 76 of UNCLOS 1982 and technical guidance and scientific withdrawal outer limits of the continental shelf that is issued by the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS). Maximum area obtained in accordance with the procedures and steps in processing the data is equal to 35154,533350 km². This area using ocean ridge Eauripik Rise claims as withdrawal of the reference line of the formula. text |
