Summary:Article 76 United Nations Law of the Sea Convention (UNCLOS) states that a coastal state is entitled to have Continental Shelf beyond 200 nautical miles measured from the its baseline. This is also known Extended Continental Shelf (ECS). Coastal State can submit its ECS boundary to the Commission on the Limits of Continental Shelf (CLCS) through the Secretary General of the United Nations, if the state fullfil some required conditions.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Based previous study (DesktopStudy) using geological, seismic, gravitiy, and bathymetric data (Team Reports LKI, 2005] according to required conditions for ECS in UNCLOS 1982 presents 3 prosepectus locations where 3 Indonesia an implement the submission Extended Continental Shelf being West of Aceh, South of Sumba and North of Papua.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The Final Project is aimed to describe comprehensively the claim potensial of ECS on the Northh of Papua. In this Final Project, realization and result of bathymetric and seismic survey is examined to get depth profile and 1% sediment thickness data in the North of Papua as the technical requirements for submission Extended Continental Shelf. The results of the survey is depth profile and 1% sediment thickness data in the North of Papua has the potential are less to be able to increase the limit CSE on the North Papua.
