Even though casting process produced near-net shaped products, but the machining process was needed on finishing products. The research was conducted to understand the machinability of nodular cast iron. To understand the relation between nodular graphite (amount, size and shape) and the matrix structures (ferrite and pearlite) of nodular cast iron, which used MCR4 and MCR8 as nodu/ant and superselect in the amount of 0,48%, 0.5%. I% and 1,5% as inoculant, with its mach/nobility i.e. cutting force, /ceding Torre and chip forms produced from variations of machining condition (cutting speed, /feeding and depth of cut), tool wear and surface roughness. The results showed the specimen No. 2 with MCR4 as nodu/ant and superselect 0,5% as inoculant produced the best machinability of nodular cast iron. text
