Summary:Lipid extract of seaweed from Indonesia was reported has antibacterial activity. Long fatty acid (C>10) known as dominant composition in lipid extract of seaweed was reported as apoptosis agent by mitochondrial pathway. Unsaturated fatty acid was also reported as anti-apoptosis agent. Previous study showed that lipid extract of seaweed from Indonesia has long unsaturated fatty acid with various double bond. This is an interesting phenomenon for researcher to explore the benefit from Indonesian seaweed. In this study, we studied about the influence of seaweed lipid extract from Indonesia in apoptosis by mitochondrial pathway.
