Summary: | In this research two electrochemical method which are unusually employed in determining galvanic corrosion, particularly, the system consisting of junction between weld metal and carbon steel, was explorated. The chemical for testing is commercial inhibitor that belong to selected very high inhibitition performing class of inhibitors Measurement of the rate of galvanic corrosion that was studied is the potensiodynamic and galvanostatic polarization methods. Parameter of measurement on the first method was set by sweeping the potensial at 0,1 mV/s and the range of potensial VCP ± 30 Mv. While the other was set at current step of 1 Na with threshold of 40-45 mV. The first method results in the higher rate of galvanic corrosion than that of the second method, by order of 103. The pattern of inhibition that was revealed over the two method showed several different results. The first method showed increasing results and persistent one later while the other showed decreasing results when amount of inhibitor was optimal. On the other it is found that at inhibitor concentration of inhibitor 1000 ppm induces the transition phenomena from anodic to cathodic natureEffect of temperature showed resemblance of result upon pattern of the rate of galvanic corrosion in both methods. Whereas effects of both stirring rate and partial pressure of CO2 gas showed the different patterns of the rate of corrosion. |
