This technique is used as a preliminary survey in geothermal exploration. It records energy radiated by an object at different wavelengths. The existance of geothermal potential in this area manifests in heat, solfatar, fumaroles, soil containing hot steam, silica sinter and hydrothermal alterations. Landsat ETM+ 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 were used to measure land surface temperature, especially band 6 or thermal band. Interpretation of land surface temperature is expressed by the tone and colour of thermal infrared imagery. Land surface temperature will then be integrated with other data and maps that are related to the area of study. This is done in order to acquire informations such as their manifestations on the surface, geological analysis, and volcanic phenomenons. text
