Description
Summary:The research area is located in village of Mulyoagung, Singgahan-Parengan District, Tuban, East Java. Geographically, the area is located at coordinates 9227000 – 9233000 m and 587000 – 591000 m UTM (zone -49). The area has width ± 24 km2 (4 km x 6 km) with scale in map is 1 : 12.500 .

General morphology of research area had close to wide contours with elevation ranged 30-293 above sea level. Based on morphological appearance of contour map, radar images of Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM), and field observation, research area is divided into three geomorphological units, which are Karst Hills Unit, Fault Zone Hills Unit, and Homoclinal Valley Unit.

Stratigraphy of research area is divided unofficially into five lithological units, from old to young is as follows, namely Limestone I Unit, Marl-Limestone Unit, Marl Unit, Limestone II Unit, and Alluvial Unit. The geological structure that play a role in research area is Gegunung Reverse Fault which cut all of lithology that formed before.

Geological history of reseach area was starting from Middle Miocene when area formed in shallow marine, which Limestone I Unit was deposited. Then sea level was increasing so that Marl-Limestone Unit deposited later at Late Miocene–Early Pliocene. In Early Pliocene–Late Pliocene, sea level was still increasing when Marl unit was deposited. In Late Pliocene–Pleistocene, sea level was decreassing and Limestone II Unit was deposited. Tectonic activity gave rise to formed Gegunung Reverse Fault later, and cut all of lithological unit in the research area.
