To produce a DTM, it can be achieved by doing a reduction of DSM data. The reduction process is divided into two methods, i.e. the image-based method and range-based method. Image-based method can be applied if the data are based on photogrammetry method while range-based method can be applied if the data are generated from laser scanner or LIDAR measurements. Because DSM data still has a feature in addition to the objects of the terrain, it is necessary to do a method for removing those features. The method is called DSM filtering. Simple morphological filter is a method that aims to classify the terrain’s features automatically on the DSM data generated by range-based method. The results of this classification process are observations can be classified as ground or non-ground measurements. By using parameters such as window, slope, cell size, and elevation threshold, the non-ground measurements can be removed. In this study, simple morphological filters used in DSM data at the area of ITB Jatinangor and ITB with the DSM data derived from image-based method The result indicates that simple morphological filter can produce DTM on both areas of study. Validation has been done on DTM in ITB Jatinangor research areas based on land surveys measurements that generates RMSE of 1.668 m. text
