Summary: | Research area is located at Karangmulya Village, which located in between Ciamis District and Pangandaran District, West Java (239000-245000mE dan 9165000-9170000mN UTM Zone: -48) with ± 30 km2 area of study. Based on previous regional study, this area is located in two physiographic zones, which are Central Depression Zone of Java and Southern Mountains. <br />

This research area has geomorphology of hills and lowland, and also effected by exogenous processes such as erosion, weathering, and karstification. Based on structures, processes, and stages that controlled geomorphology in study area, this area is divided into three units of geomorphology: Volcanic Hills Unit, Karst Hills Unit, and Denudation Plain Unit. <br />

Based on lithology composition in study area, stratigraphy of study area can be divided into three rock units: Breccias Unit was deposited at submarine fan in Early Miocene-Lower Middle Miocene, and then the Limestone Unit deposited at carbonate platform in Middle Miocene which deposited conformably above Breccias Unit. After that, Sandstone Unit was deposited unconformably above Limestone Unit at Middle Neritic in Late Miocene-Pliocene. After the deposition of Sandstone Unit, there was a deformation in Pliocene-Pleistocene and formed these structures at study area: Munggangpare Anticline, Cilalay Syncline, Cicapar Thrust, Ciroyom Strike-Slip Fault, Blater Strike-Slip Fault, and Klapasawit Strike-Slip Fault, and then uplifted study area to surface. Weathering, erosion, sedimentation, and karstification processes that keep happening until now formed recent morphology that can be seen at this time. |
