The high accuracy and speed in data acquisition in a vast area make this technology being used in various fields. Palm oil as one of Indonesian‟s plant that produce one of the biggest income in the country, so the more it cultivated. Based on that fact, it will be better to develop a method to monitor the development of palm oil plantation with the number and the average height as the result. The process starts with entering parameter value to obtain point clouds classification that will use to generate Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and Digital Surface Model (DSM). Canopy Height Model (CHM) will be obtained after having DSM and DTM data. Those data will be used as a parameter to detect trees. The result from this method will be validated using orthophoto. The output of this project shows 3119 trees with a height ranging 3-16 meter in 22.5 ha area of palm oil plantation. The validation showed 4 % of error probability, coupled with literature that accept the result of this method. text
