Summary: | Presence of aerosols can affect human health, air quality, and climate. Aerosol sources can be derived from nature such as forest fires, volcanic eruptions, sea salt or the result of human activities such as industry, burning of fossil fuels. Every year, in Indonesia is still a forest fire which is one source of aerosols in the atmosphere. In general, aerosols can be classified into 4 types namely, Sea Salt, Sulphate, Dust, carbonaceous. One way to determine and classify the type of aerosol that is by using satellite data. Aerosol type classification is performed using the data Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) and Fine mode fraction (FMF) of the data and the Modis-Aqua aerosol index data from the OMI-Aura of data by using and MODIS-OMI algorithm. This method classifies aerosols by absorption of solar radiation and aerosol size. Type of aerosol distribution analysis performed on the western part of Indonesia in 2011. There are 2 main types of aerosol types and 1 mixed aerosol types, ie the type of sea salt, sulfate, and a mixture of sea salt and sulfate. Sea salt aerosols are generally found in areas of the oceans and spreading is affected by the wind. Sulfate aerosols are more dominant in the region of Sumatra Island and Kalimantan Island. In the dry months, the type of sulfate is more diffuse and less than in the wet. In the wet season, this type of sulfate concentrated in Sumatra and Kalimantan. For mixed type sea salt and sulfate contained in the region between type sea salt and sulfate type. This type is the type to minimize the error of classification. |
