Stratigraphy analysis of the research area uses gamma ray log and core description. Stratigraphy of the research area consists of Pematang Group and Sihapas Group. Pematang group is syn-rift deposition which consists of Lower Red Bed Formation, Brown Shale Formation, and Upper Red Bed Formation. Sihapas Group is post-rift deposition comprising Menggala Formation, Bangko Formation, Bekasap Formation, Duri Formation, and Telisa Formation. Structural analysis of the research area uses a southwest-northeast seismic cross-section that shows the presence of normal fault and reverse fault, both of them trending northwestsoutheast.
Beside that, anticlines are also observed that can be trap for hydrocarbon in research area.
Based on geochemical biomarker analysis, Brown Shale Formation source rock in the research area can be divided into two genetic types which are source rock

genetic type I and type II. Source rock genetic type I has organic material from lacustrine algae and it was deposited in deep lacustrine. Source rock genetic type II contains organic material whose characteristic indicates that they were derived from mixed source between higher plant and lacustrine algae deposited in shallow lacustrine. The result of source rock and oil correlation in research area stated that the oil is correlative with source rock genetic type I. |
