Summary:The research is conducted in Karangbawang Village and surrounding area <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> which is include into Distruct Banymas, Central Java, at 7°24’18” LS - 7°26’29” <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> LS dan 109°02’23” BT- 109°04’12” BT with an area of approximately 16 km <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> square. The purpose of this study is to get the information about the litology <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> located at this area. This research is done taking outcrops description and lab <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> analysis. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The research area is divided into three geomorphological units, such <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Homoclinal Hills Unit, Denudational Valley Unit, and Alluvial Unit. The youth <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> geomorphic stage for Homoclinal Hills Unit and Denudational Valley Unit, and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> maturity geomorphic stage for Alluvial Unit. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The Formation which exposed in research area are Halang Formation, and <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Tapak Formation. Based on lithological charateristics, there are six unofficial <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> units in research area, from bottom to top, Sandstone-Mudstone Unit of Late <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Miocene, Mudstone- Sandstone Unit of Late Miocene, Limestone Unit of Lower <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Pliocene, Sandstone Unit of Lower Pliocene, Basalt Unit of Quarter, and Alluvial <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Unit. There are lot of geological structures in research area, such as strike and dip, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Cilewik Thrust Fault, Kalibeber Thrust Fault, Pagawulan Dextral Strike-Slip <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Fault, Kalipucut Dextral Strike-Slip Fault, Parakan Dextral Strike-Slip Fault <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Watubedil Anticline, and Bojonggunung Anticline. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Geological history started with a conformably deposition Sandstone- <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Mudstone Unit until Sandstone Unit on Late Miocene-Lower Pliocene with <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> regretional changing. On Pliocene-Pleistocene, tectonic activity causing the uplift <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> of all the units and forms the geological structure of the area. Basalt Unit was <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> deposited on Kuarter unconformably. The history ended with deposition of <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Alluvial Unit unconformably which the process is still going until now.
