Major driver of IT Offshore Outsourcing is the low labor cost of IT Offshore Outsourcing destination countries, resulting in reduced cost of the IT activities that are outsourced. Another advantage is increased flexibility, longer operating time and reduced time to complete a job by using the time difference from the Offshore Outsourcing IT services provider countries. Therefore, IT Offshore Outsourcing can be a business opportunity that can be utilized by Indonesian IT company. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> But, now, IT Offshore Outsourcing market is dominated by the vendor from India and China. Yet according to A.T. Kearney Global Position Index in 2011, Indonesia was ranked fifth as an attractive offshore destination country. To improve the competitive power of IT company in Indonesia so that vendors can compete with India and China, it needs a capability model for IT vendors companies <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Studies that discuss the capability model have been demonstrated by Guopeng dan Bo (2008) for IT companies in China. This research was conducted using Guopeng dan Bo’s model and develop the capabilities model by entering the factor of adaptability according to the context of Indonesia. By entering the adaptability factor in the Guopeng dan Bo (2008)’s model and validate it in the context of Indonesia, this study can contribute in providing an overview what capabilities are needed to improve the competitive power of Indonesian IT vendors company in IT Offshore Outsourcing activities so that customers are satisfied the quality of services produced in the Offshore Outsourcing of IT activities. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Development of this capability model begins with the study of literature on capability models in previous research. Aspects of the capabilities from Guopeng dan Bo (2008)’s research is added with the factor of adaptability based on Plugge dan Janssen (2009)’s research. The results of this model development was measured using questionnaires in Indonesian IT company that has already had a client abroad before. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> From the research result, it can be shown the current level of the Indonesian IT company's capabilities based on IT vendor perspective. The study also illustrates the corresponding relationships between aspects of the capability. From these research results, recommendation to the Indonesian IT company can be given to improve every aspect of its capabilities so they can improve their competitive edge in IT Offshore Outsourcing activities. text |
