ROAD SAFETY INVESTIGATION IN PADALARANG-CILEUNYI TOLL ROAD

Road safety has become a very crusial problem nowadays. A toll road as a kind of road infrastructure considered also contribute in several accident that happened in the world, includes Indonesia. This research aimed to investigate the characteristic of accident that happened in Padalarang-Cileunyi toll road which covering information about black segmen, dominant factor of accident and the recommendation of countermeasures that approriate for the safety problem in several black segmen. <br /> <br /> <br /> Step of analysis started with collecting of secondary data related to research that obtained from PT Jasa Marga Cabang Purbaleunyi in range of period time 3 year (2008-2010), covering field accident data, traffic volume data, geometric data, and primary data as suported data. All of this data were processed into several descriptive analysis tools like table, graphic and diagram. <br /> <br /> <br /> Result of analysis show that human factor is the most dominant factor in all of accident that happened in Padalarang-Cilenuyi toll road. It’s contribution is more than 70%. This problem indicated that the awareness of traffic roads is still lacking. Besides that, observation in several segmen show that there’re a lot of deficiency of road furniture that can be dangerous to road users, namely sign harmonization, road information board and the side object. Handling priority of safety problem in Padalarang-Cileunyi toll road is based on : (i) the condition of horizontal and vertical alignments that have minimum information and signs, (ii) the side object which is dangerous to road safety, and (iii) handling of road that is not accompanied by adequate features, like median and guard rail.
