Description
Summary:Open clusters are physically related groups of stars held together by mutual

gravitational attraction, populating a limited region of space. Photometric

observation of open clusters allow us to study several kinds of variable stars in much

more details. Variable stars are stars with variability in brightness. This variability

is due to external and internal factor.

I present results of a search for variable stars in the open cluster NGC 6716.

Imaging photometry has been acquired in Bosscha Observatory, Lembang, using

Celestron 11 inch (f/10) Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope equipped with CCD SBIG

ST-8 XME as the detector. The data were processed using software Image

Reduction and Analysis Facility (IRAF) and Light Curve and Period Analysis

Software (Peranso). As result, I found 15 variable star candidate. Among the

variable stars, one star confirmed to be RR Lyrae and one is a probable d Scuti.

Moreover, I found one eclipsing W UMa system.
