In order to reduce machine tool vibration, the static and dynamic stiffness of machine tool should be considered during designing stage. The static stiffness of machine tools is related with machine tool geometric accuracy, where as the dynamic characteristic is related with machine tools vibration response during machining. In this research activities, i=:achine tool dynamic characteristics was obtained by measuring its frequency response function (FRF) using. a mufti channel spectrum analyzer (MSA) instrument. Investigation was conducted to know the influence of cutting process on work piece surface roughness by performing cutting test on Gallic 16N lathe. The result of this research are showing the work piece surface roughness is influence by cutting force, dept of cut, feeding and cantilever mounted work piece overhang. text |
