Morphology is composed of ridge, valley and hills. Based on the geological mapping, stratigraphy of the area is divided into four lithostratigraphic units. Those units, from old to young, are Tuff Unit (Early Pleistocene), Mount Ulusabuk Andesite Lava Unit (Middle Pleistocene), Mount Remas Andesite Lava Unit (Middle Pleistocene) and Lahar Breccia Unit (Late Pleistocene). Geological structure found in this area is a relatively north northeast – south southwest reverse sinistral fault. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Soil and soil-gas geochemistry analysis were conducted in Mount Remas and the surroundings. Analysis of 123 samples performed on that samples resulted in values of 17 – 1217 ppb for soil Hg and 0.2 – 5.4 % for soil-gas CO2. From data processing, threshold of Hg is 631 ppb and 4.4 % for CO2. Anomaly area based on Hg lies in southwest side of Remas Mount, while anomaly area of CO2 lies in summit of Remas Mount. Anomalous distribution areas of Hg and CO2 indicate fracture zone and useful for further geothermal exploration in this area. text |
