During the production process of dosage form, drug compound will receive some treatments such as solving, heating, grinding, granulating, compacting, etc. Those process can raise polymorphic transformation. Therefore, it is needed to identify gemfibrozil polymorph forms by crystallographic method. The aim of this study is to search gemfibrozil polymorph by some treatments. Gemfibrozil was given some treatments, such as dissolving, grinding, and melting. Then, the crystal will be identified through its melting point, crystal habit, molecule groups, powder x-ray diffraction patterns, thermal properties, and dissolution test. The melting point of resulted crystals from n-hexan was 58,0; acetic acid 58,8; and methanol-water (1:1) 58,3 oC. The crystal habit of commercial and recrystallized from acetic acid were coarse and irregular form, but from n-hexan and methanol-water gemfibrozil showed block form. IR spectra showed some peaks at similar wave number (2923, 1704, 1511, 1608 cm-1). Thermogram of each crystal showed endothermic peak at temperature 61-62 oC. Difractogram of each crystal showed similarity interference at 2O (12,2; 14,0; 12,5; 17,4 and; 16,8o) whilst the commercial gemfibrozil showed the highest solut concentration than that of other crystal. text
