The platform on shallow water cannot be constructed on deep water so, to exploit the deep water, floating platform (semisubmersible) with a system to maintain its position over the well is used.Dynamic positioning is a system which is capable to maintain the position of floating platform and requires underwater acoustic positioning system and it works by using position, current, wind speed and wave height information, and calculating them. The result is used to maintain the position by using thrusters.Long baseline method of underwater acoustic positioning is used on dynamic positioning system because it has better accuracy compared to short or very short baseline. However this method needs to be integrated with other method and other positioning system. |
