Summary:Detail geological mapping with research topic is melange carried on Pagedongan District, Banjarnegara, and Central Java on UTM zone 49S coordinates 9177000-9172000 North and 350000-357000 East. The primary data for this research obtained from the field research and supported by the laboratory analysis such as petrography, micropaleontology and analysis of geological structure. Morphology of research area consist of hills which extends NE – SW on eastern research area with steep escarpment, isolated hills and “V” shape river valley which indicated lithology heterogeneity on melange, and ridge trending NE – SW on northwest which characterized fold structure on research area. Formation of research area began with formation of Melange Complex Unit with unic characteristic such as boudine structure and presence of metamorphic rock as a product from metamorphism process from the Late Cretaceous - Paleocene subduction of the Indo - <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Australian plate. Rocks from the ocean crust which composed by a group of marine sedimentary rocks and the ophiolite sequence dragged into the trench, tectonically mixed, and form metamorphic rock from metamorphism process in subduction channel. Presence of East Java Micro-Continent in the Paleocene-Eocene that moves toward the subduction zone led to <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> cease the Eocene magmatic activity and raised the subduction complex. There also occur the increasing of subduction angle and uplifting of subduction complex on the southeastern of <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Sundaland, followed by erosion and landslides process along the NE - SW fault zone that produce new deposit, Clay Breccia Unit unconformably above Melange Complex Unit. This process consists of erosion and landslide due to gravity on the unstable slope. Volcanism activity on Oligo - Miocene formed Volcanic Breccia Unit on the marine environment. Repeated compression phase on Pliocene to Pleistocene reactivate previous structural system. Folding process is very intensive that create anticline - syncline with axis fold elongated NE - SW in research area controlled by the pattern of basement structure. General uplift occurred; make all of rocks expose to the surface, erosion, transportation, deposit Aluvial Unit and current morphology as we see now.
