Bogor zeolite heulandite type with ratio of Si/Al 3.5 and the empirical formula Ca(Al2Si7)O18.6H2O have better catalytic properties compared with other zeolites. Zeolite milled using a simple ball milling for time variation 4, 6 and 8 hours. Then the zeolites activated by simple heating at temperature 200, 300, 400 and 500 oC. Zeolite that is activated by simple heating at temperature 400 oC gives better results in aquathermolysis process. Activation using with HCl can restructurize zeolite better. Synthesis of composite NiO/zeolite was conducted using Ethylene Glycol Route with composition mass 50% zeolite and calcination temperature 500oC. NiO/zeolite that has generated has 50 nm crystal size and 405 nm particle size. EDX analysis showed that the material content of the synthesis results contain the expected elements, namely Ni and O represent the NiO and Si, Al, Ca and O represent the

zeolite. From the results of EDX, there are still contained of Cl that estimated comes from precursor NiCl2.6H2O. But the amount is not too big, only about 0.70%. FTIR results confirmed that the bonding metal oxide (NiO) has been formed around 385- 690 cm-1 and 1600-1640 cm-1 wavelength. For calcination temperature 400oC, there are OH bond at 3364 cm-1 wavelength while for calcination temperature 500oC there are not. This indicates that the zeolite still contains water, because it’s nature to absorbs water. As for 500oC calcination, the water content is not there anymore.

The addition of NiO/zeolite catalyst in aquathermolysis process (6 hours,

200oC) can reduce the viscosity of heavy oil until 70%. Changes in the content of some heavy hydrocarbons in the heavy oil before and after the aquathermolysis process also measured in this research by using GC-MS analysis. Content of pentane, Indene and cyclopentane which are compounds of hydrocarbons with high density and viscosity having decrease in heavy oil after aquatermolisis process. The decrease in the content of these compounds can be an indication that the aquathermolysis process is going well. text |
