Installation of electrical submarine cable in the water area is not as easy as do it on the land. There are more variables which affected by each unique water area condition. In technical standard installation of electrical submarine cable, has identified the variables that need to be considered in the installation of electrical submarine cable, but still not provide information about the variables in the aspect of optimization purpose. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> This research is intended to provide information of variables that must be considered in the site and route selection of electrical submarine cable optimally based on existing standard. Methodology of the research was conducted based on literature review and study of previous studies related to the installation of submarine cables. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Variables that affect the placement and installation of the electrical submarine cable including physical and non-physical variables. Physical variables are measurable variables which relate to biological, chemical, dynamics of sea water, and the physical properties of sea water. Non-physical variables are social aspects, economic, and legal. Then the variables are analyzed based on its implication into cable installation operational and maintenance activities. The information from analyzed variables then will become the refference in doing optimization of location and route of submarine electrical cable installation.
