SYNTHETIC ZEOLITE ZSM 5 AND ITS CHARACTERIZATION AS CARBON PASTE ELECTRODE MODIFIER FOR VOLTAMMETRIC ANALYSIS
Zeolite is a compound that has molecular-sized pores that could accomodate different kinds of cations. Zeolite easily release cation and replace it with another cation (ion exchange). Its porous structure could increase the carbon paste electrode’s sensitivity. ZSM-5 type zeolite (MFI) is synthes...

Zeolite easily release cation and replace it with another cation (ion exchange). Its porous structure could increase the carbon paste electrode’s sensitivity. ZSM-5 type zeolite (MFI) is synthesized following the low temperature method. Reagents used the ratio of Si/Al=51,9; NaOH/Si=0,066; TPA Br/Si=0,033; and H2O/Si=7,68. All reagents mixed in a polypropilene container and heated at temperature 90 oC for 4 days, and then calcined at 550 oC for 8 hours. The formed zeolite then characterized with XRD, SEM and IR spectra, as well as its chemical composition and cation exchange capacity value was determined. Carbon paste electrode is developed by using ZSM-5 as modifier for voltammetric analysis. Analysis of Zn2+ solution is used to determine carbon paste electrode modified ZSM-5 characterization by differential pulse voltammetry technique. Calibration curve of Zn2+ solution shows good linearity in the concentration range of 0,01 – 0,1 mM with detection limit of 7,49 μM. text |
