Summary: | Solar radiation is an environmentally friendly renewable energy and has potential to respond to today’s energy needs. But unfortunately for a big region like Indonesia, availability of solar radiation data is still very minimum. Therefore we need a method to estimate solar radiation values other than direct measurement. This research used a model Reference Evaluation of Solar Transmittance, 2 Bands (REST 2). Research to validate the REST 2 model has been performed in Colorado, Hawaii, Saudi Arabia, Spain, India, and several other areas, but have not done for Indonesia. Semarang Climatological Station selected as a representative point for Indonesia, because the station has the required data for this study. Estimation of solar radiasion after value obtained will then be verified using direct measurement result. Research for Semarang region produce RMSE values for REST 2 model about 6.53%, based on the value it has been concluded that the model REST 2 can be used to estimate the value of solar radiation in clear sky conditions in Indonesia. |
