RELIABILITY CENTERED MAINTENANCE AS OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE OF WORLD CLASS MAINTENANCE IN PT. CHEVRON PACIFIC INDONESIA

PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) in last two year has applied system Base Business, a system to achieve operation excellence which aim to control existin production facilities for maximizing reliability and financial profit. There are four components or key processes from Base Business as the following. One of the critical component from Base Business is Surface Equipment Reliability Improvement (SERIP), which operation management in dealing with aset management from production facilities and equipment, processes and procedures, and the man who is all controlling in one system. As a world class company, CPI is claimed to have operational excellence in the worldclass maintenance for avoiding many problems due to system maintenance and operations that are not adequate. For example, functional failure in the production of various asets, followed by the number of downtime which effect in lost production, or inefficient the number of overtime and the number of employees, uncontrolled purchasing of spare parts due to inappropriate planning, or even damage can occur on aset production which effect to labor accidents and environmental pollution. Stage achievement of world class, does that by using SERIP or use another achievement method, need extra effort and time. To realize SERIP and the related with world class maintenance, can refer to structured thinking pattern well such as described in trilateral Campbell. One of the process in SERIP is Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM). The concept of RCM has been adopted across several government and industry operations as a strategy for performing maintenance of equipment. RCM applies maintenance strategies based <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> on consequence and cost of failure. In addition, RCM seeks to minimize maintenance and improve reliability throughout the life&#8208;cycle by using proactive techniques such as improved design specifications, integration of condition monitoring in the production process.
