Summary:Multi-story low cost housing is one type of residential building. One aspect determining the qualities of the dwelling unit is its natural ventilation system devices, which does not always works properly when do occurs daily fluctuation of air speed or rainy day. The fluctuation of air speed generates an uncomfortable of the indoor thermal environment. <br /> <br /> <br /> The adaptive jalousie device reconditions the natural ventilation by reducing the fluctuation effect of air circulation-speed. <br /> <br /> <br /> Adaptive jalousie works responsively to the air circulation, if the air speed is high, it would be closed and if the air-speed is low, it would be opened. By not using adaptive jalousie, the disturbance air circulation-speed will cause the room discomfortness which is fluctuation of air speed. <br /> <br /> <br /> This research use experimental method with wind tunnel as the simulator, which the ventilation model tested are ordinary and adaptive jalousies. <br /> <br /> <br /> It assumes that adaptive jalousie could reduce the fluctuation of air movement that is entered the room. <br /> <br /> <br /> The result point that adaptive jalousie can reduce the air –speed fluctuation until 18%. That's why it can be used to fix the flats ventilation system at the corridors side that has high speed air movement.
