Summary: | The experimental research is conducted to study of diagonal bars in external plastic joint area toward energy dissipation. The loading methods are done monotonically and cyclic loading area changing direction with displacement control mechanism. The objects of studies are four specimens with compressive concrete strength of 40 MPa. The objective of these research is to compare specimens\'capability without diagonal bars with specimen enforced with diagonal bars on plastic joint area in order to dissipate energy. The test result are described in hysteretic curve analysis load-displacement, energy dissipation, ductility, stiffness and strength degradation and observation of cracking pattern on specimen. The result show that specimen enforced with diagonal bars plastic joint area have ability in energy dissipate. Pinching that happened small enough, with result that stiffness and strength degradation are larger happened on specimens without diagonal bars can be avoided. Cracks in external joint area moves toward the beam, so that meeting beam column joint was not cracked. |
