able to convert solar energy into electric energy. Maximum power point tracker (MPPT) is required to ensure the photovoltaic module running its maximum power point (MPP). Some MPPT algorithm has been developed. Perturb and observe (PO) is used in the final project. It needs a battery to save energy produced by photovoltaic module. The DC-DC converter is used to charge battery and operate photovoltaic module on MPP. The control circuit used to implement the MPPT algorithm uses the ATmega 8535 microcontroller. Pulse width modulation (PWM) and analog-to-digital converter (ADC) feature are applied on this microcontroller. PWM is used to produce the switching signal for mosfet, while ADC is used to determine the voltage and current of photovoltaic module. In order to simplify the experiment and to measure the accuracy of MPPT, photovoltaic module is substituted with the photovoltaic simulator circuit. The end result shows that photovoltaic module could reach the MPP with 90-100 % of accuracy. |
