One of the problem that arises is the layout of the company. PT. DI layout design is based on process layout. As a result, the distance between machine is too far. Oftenly, re-layout is conducted to meet consumers’ contract. One of the alternatif solution that can be considered is fractal layout. Fractal layout offers an efficient material handling cost by keeping the movement of material inside <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> cell, and also gives flexibility to withstand product variation and product mix. In layout design process, it has been indicated that there are parts which have same <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> process. From this indication, it is figured that there are clustering of part (part family). This information will be used in designing layout which is suitable to be <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> implemented in PT. DI. The layout design process is done by distributing machines owned by PT DI into fractal cell, where each cell has a similar machines composition. Then flow assignment is given to each cell. At the final step, the layout of machines inside cell <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> and the layout of cell inside shop floor are optimized using part routing from flow assignment. The result of the design are fractal layout (fractal A) and fractal layout which focused on certain part group (fractal B).
