The climate change has caused by the increasing concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2). Forest becoming a solution to this issue since trees have the ability to reduce the CO2 level on the atmosphere. CO2 which then absorbed as a certain organic material called biomass can be measured. Studies show that biomass measurement on certain site can be used as an estimation of CO2 absorbance ability. There are a lot of methods that can be used to measure biomass. The measurement can be done either with direct or indirect method. Direct biomass measurement takes a lot more resources such as time and money compared to indirect method. This research aimed to measure biomass stock with indirect method. Light Detection and Ranging which then called as LiDAR was used to measure pine trees biomass. The pine trees biomass measurement was conducted by using two allometric models made by Departemen Kehutanan Indonesia and Heriyanto et al (2005). The two models need pine tree height and diameter variable data from LiDAR. To be specific those pine tree height data were gathered by coordinate extraction and trees detection done in LiDAR. Estimation results from the two allometric models were then compared. The result shows that both have 11.39 ton/ha biomass difference. text |
