Description
Summary:Kanan Dede area is located in Limbong Subdistrict, North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The object of research is to find out the evolution of hydrothermal system in the area. The methods of research are combined of geology and geochemistry. Petrography analysis is done to understand the process and the degree of rock alteration, XRD and PIMA analysis to find out the composition of clay mineral, whereas fluid inclusion to know of temperature and salinity of fluid.

There are two hydrothermal system in research area i.e. fossil hydrothermal system and active hydrothermal system. The fossil system is formed at 343o to 335oC and going to 139o to 160oC (cooling down), pH of fluid is neutral to slight acid. The active system has 270oC of reservoir temperature based on Na/K geothermometer calculation (Giggenbach) and pH of fluid is about 5,79.

The fossil hydrothermal system is related to Pliocene magmatic activity as small intrusion body of aplite, dacite and granodiorite that intrude granite body, whereas the active system is related to 400.000 year old (Pleistocene) volcanic activity.
