HYDROTHERMAL SYNTHESIS OF LIQUID BCNO PHOSPHOR AND FABRICATION OF BCNO-COMPOSITE THIN FILM PHOSPHORS
Liquid BCNO phosphors has been successfully synthesized using hydrothermal method. The prepared precursors are boric acid [B(OH)3] as boron sources, urea [(NH2)2CO] as nitrogen sources and citric acid [C6H8O7], oleic acid[CH3(CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)7COOH], and Polyethylene glycol (PEG) [C2n+2H4n+2On+2 ] wer...

Summary: | Liquid BCNO phosphors has been successfully synthesized using hydrothermal method. The prepared precursors are boric acid [B(OH)3] as boron sources, urea [(NH2)2CO] as nitrogen sources and citric acid [C6H8O7], oleic acid[CH3(CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)7COOH], and Polyethylene glycol (PEG) [C2n+2H4n+2On+2 ] were used as carbon source. In this research, several variations performed on selected parameters, such as: carbon source, heating temperature, heating time, and the molar ratio of nitrogen to boron (N/B) and carbon to boron (C/B). Photoluminescence spectra of the samples shows a single emission bands, with bright blue luminescence. Samples with citric acid carbon sources produce bright luminescence, while PEG and oleic acid didn’t produce luminescence. Optimum luminescence intensity were produced when heating temperature 140 ° C for 3 hours in the autoclave. Luminescence intensity was also influenced by the carbon content (C/B) and nitrogen content (N/B). The addition of carbon and nitrogen content increased the luminescence intensity, and intensity optimum was reached when C / B = 1 and N / B = 2. The prepared liquid BCNO were dispersed in transparent epoxy resin, which was subsequently coated on a glass substrate using a spin coating method to fabricate BCNO-composites thin film phosphors. Transmittances of the fabricated BCNO-composite thin film phosphor ranged from 30% to 90 % and it was influenced by the concentration of BCNO in the composite. The film transmitance value of sample decreased as the increasing of concentration of BCNO in the composite. By using Swanopoel method, the film thickness of fabricated BCNO-composite Film were of 1413 nm, 1420 nm, 1423 nm, and 1518 nm for a film with a concentration BCNO in composites 5%, 8%, 12%, and 20%, respectively. Thin film BCNO-composite have direct band gap characteristics with a value of 2.75 ± 0.15 eV .Thus, the fabricated thin film BCNO-composite can be applied as a display technology and other optoelectronic application. |
